PROJECT OVERVIEW

Imagine a world where every child's laughter is free from the shadows of exploitation!

Child laborers in India, aged 12 to 17, lack essential life skills, affecting their well-being, education, and future opportunities. To turn this around, we need to understand why this is happening, look at existing support systems.

Introducing an effective programme that will equip them with the life skills is necessary!
Through the programme, it will help them have a brighter future and build a better life.

THE CHALLENGE?

OBJECTIVE

In India, around 10 million children are engaged in child labor—a number that continues to rise despite existing programs. These young laborers, especially aged 12–17, often lack the life skills needed for well-being, emotional resilience, and future opportunities—depriving them of meaningful growth beyond survival

  • To design a life-skills development kit tailored for child laborers aged 12–17.

  • To equip child laborers with essential capabilities like decision-making, problem-solving, self-awareness, and emotional management and make learning engaging, accessible, and regionally adaptable.

  • To provide activity-based, interactive learning that feels approachable and age-appropriate.

  • To ensure the content is visually engaging, culturally relevant and language accessible (primarily Hindi).

THOUGHT CAPSULE

"Working on this programme felt like stepping into a silent world — full of kids who deserve more than survival skills; they deserve hope and joy. I kept thinking: What would life feel like if they had guidance? Designing the kit taught me that empathy isn't just a feeling — it’s a tool. Each activity, each visual, was a tiny invitation: learn a little about yourself, build a little confidence, feel a little stronger. I remember the moment I chose Hindi for all content — not because it's easier, but because it's their voice. It reminded me how design can give someone back their sense of possibility. And no matter how small it feels, that’s a powerful beginning."
