To help you celebrate in style, we've created special packaging for Lakme beauty products that transforms into a stunning shadow lantern!

Featuring intricate jali (lattice) designs that represent each of the five festive days, this packaging brings a fun and interactive twist to your celebrations. Get ready to light up your Diwali with a touch of tradition and creativity!
ABOUT THE BRAND
Lakmé is India's leading cosmetics brand, known for its minimalist color scheme of black and white, occasionally accented with a complementary color. For festive packaging, while the design remains minimal, the colors become vibrant.
OBJECTIVE
Visualise and design a novel structure for a festive gift pack including the brand label consistent with the visual language and product form. The packaging should also include a hidden surprise.

TARGET AUDIENCE
BRAINSTORMING
We began with word mapping and finding keywords about Diwali's specialty. The most often used terms were used as a starting point for our concepts.
Diwali's renowned lanterns served as the inspiration for designing packaging that would capture the spirit of the celebration.

We wanted the packaging to elevate the mood of Diwali.
So, a tagline was conceptualized:
A gift to light up your face
and a surprise to light up your house.

Packaging Ideation
Each of the five intricate lattices captures the spirit of Diwali’s five special days—Vasubaras, Dhanteras, Narak Chaturdashi, Lakshmi Pujan, Bhai Duj, and Balipratipada. These designs symbolize the rich cultural heritage and mythology, bringing to life the emotions, beliefs, and stories that make Diwali so cherished.

THOUGHT CAPSULE

"Working on this Diwali packaging was pure joy. It was days of sketching lattice patterns, thinking of how each design could reflect the emotions of Diwali. We didn’t want it to just look pretty—we wanted it to spark delight. When the boxes turned into lanterns and cast those warm shadows, We felt we would truly captured the light-hearted spirit of the festival. That moment felt like magic. Sometimes, when you design with care and cultural respect, the product doesn’t just get used — it gets felt."
